Home renovations in Observatory
Observatory houses are small. Cottages and semis around Lower Main Road do not have the side space of a Claremont double.

The useful renovation is often a kitchen and bathroom in a very small plan, or a careful opening between two tiny rooms. Adding area is an extension, and many stands have little yard left. Roofs are close to neighbours. Skips block narrow streets. Say whether you are trying to stay inside the existing walls.
Lower Main Road itself is noisier and more commercial. The residential streets behind it are quieter but still tight. That distinction belongs in the first sentence of the enquiry. We did not write an extension page for Observatory, because the stands often cannot take one honestly.
Sending the enquiry
Sending the form on this page is free. It uses the same enquiry path as the rest of Cape Town Construction. A provider on the Lekker Network who covers this area and this kind of work may contact you. The price and the contract, if you hire someone, are between you and that provider. This site does not promise how quickly anyone replies.
What to put in the first message
Say cottage or semi, and whether you must stay inside the existing walls. A second storey is not a kitchen renovation. Narrow street access belongs in the message.
Questions
Can I add a storey?
Sometimes the structure allows it, often it does not. You need someone to look at the walls. Do not assume a cottage can take a second floor.
Are rentals the main market?
Many houses are rented. If you are the owner and the tenant must stay, say that. It changes how dusty work can be.
Is this the same as Woodstock?
No. Observatory cottages are generally smaller. The streets and the roofs are a different pattern.
